The UPC Food Ministry
began in September, 1993 when we were made aware of no Soup Kitchen in our area
and there was a need for such a ministry. We started out with approximately 8
clients, but as we became better known our numbers increased and we have served
as many as 50 people.
Our soup kitchen is every Saturday at 12:00, everyone is invited and encouraged to attend and enjoy a healthy and nutritious meal.
After our Food Ministry became established, we joined the WNY Food bank and started a food pantry for people living in the 14219 areas. This too has grown and we provide at least 10 meals a month to each family coming to the food pantry and in a year we have fed over 700 families
Food is given out Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00 noon, our clients are eligible for a supply once a month. However, we do give out bread and baked goods to any who come to our doors on Mondays and Thursdays regardless where they reside.
The Lord has blessed our food ministry with wonderful support from the community and many organizations supporting us with food drives, cash donations, and volunteerism. We are so thankful for this support that enables us to continue this very important ministry.
